The Erasmus University Rotterdam Scholarship is designed to assist international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who aspire to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the Netherlands.

Financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, as well as Erasmus University Rotterdam, this scholarship is unavailable to students from EEA countries which include EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

The financial support provided through this scholarship amounts to €10,000.

Erasmus University Scholarship Details

This scholarship is exclusively awarded to applicants who commence the same program for which they have applied and received admission. Changing programs after being granted the scholarship is not an option.

Successful applicants must also note that the scholarship is applicable for one academic year only and can be received just once.

Given the high number of applications received annually, meeting the minimum application criteria does not guarantee the awarding of the scholarship. It is essential for applicants to fulfill the following eligibility requirements for the 2024 Erasmus University Scholarship:

  1. Nationality: The applicant must be a national of a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
  2. Previous Enrollment: The applicant should not have been enrolled as a full degree student in any educational institution in the Netherlands before.
  3. Program Selection: The applicant must be selected for one of the specified programs at Erasmus School of Economics.
  4. Registration: The applicant must be registered for the mentioned bachelor programs at Erasmus School of Economics in Studielink and must have submitted the application documents in the EUR Application Portal before March 1 to be considered for the scholarship.
  5. Mathematics Entrance Exam: If found deficient in mathematics during the bachelor application procedure, the applicant must complete the mathematics entrance exam in either February or March with a satisfactory result.
  6. Academic Excellence: The applicant should have achieved excellent study results during secondary school, with an average final result of at least grade 8.5 on a grading scale of 1-10.
  7. Financial Statement: The applicant must be able to demonstrate why the scholarship will enhance their opportunity to study at Erasmus School of Economics, including a detailed financial statement describing their financial situation and how they plan to finance their studies.
  8. Immigration Application: The immigration application must be completed before May 15, including the submission of required documents and the transfer of the remaining tuition and living fees deposit, as well as the IND handling fee.

Enrollment must be completed by no later than September 1 of the academic year for which the scholarship is requested.

Benefits of Erasmus University Scholarship

The €10,000 Erasmus University Holland Scholarship is divided into two parts: €5,000 is utilized as a reduction on the tuition fee, while the remaining €5,000 is disbursed to the student through ten monthly payments.

The latter amount can be used as part of the required living fee deposit for the immigration procedure.

Required Documents for 2024 Erasmus University Scholarship

Interested candidates must submit the following documents as part of their application:

  1. Motivation Letter: A document articulating the applicant’s motivation to study at Erasmus School of Economics, providing evidence of academic excellence and explaining how the scholarship would enhance their opportunity to study at the institution (maximum two A4 pages).
  2. Financial Statement: A document describing the applicant’s financial situation and the reason and need to receive the scholarship.
  3. Budget Plan: An overview explaining how the applicant plans to finance their studies in the event of receiving the Erasmus University Scholarship.
  4. Certified Copy of Academic Transcript: A certified copy of the applicant’s most recent academic transcript.
  5. Certified Statement: A certified statement from the educational institution confirming the applicant’s obtained GPA.
